Much has been written in the last few years about the aging infrastructure in this country. Roads, bridges, sewer and irrigation systems, tunnels, and pipelines; the list is endless, and it's going to take a lot of money and time to get a handle on much of it.
When it comes to your organizational infrastructure, the main component is the network. The accessibility and security of your data has to be paramount. With the rapid rise of complex, demand-driven applications and software suites, it is ever more essential to have a robust, scalable network backbone in your business. Now that doesn't mean you have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars building out a tier-one data center, but 2013 might be a good time to look at your options. If you are an organization that is more mobile, maybe Infrastructure as a Service or a cloud-based network would be a better fit.
