The IRS is ready to extract their pound of flesh today as lots of people will lose big chunks of their bank accounts when Tax Day closes at midnight. It's an annual ritual that people and companies engage in as they wait until the last minute to try to get every bit of value from their funds before handing them over. Then there are those of us who think we're going to get them done early, but life always seems to get in the way and inevitably you will find yourself scrambling at the last minute to find a post office open until midnight to get your taxes submitted on time.
Sorry for the digression, but my mind goes on temporary leave on April 15th. One thing you cannot afford to lose today, or any day, is your data. Those mobile devices accessing your network, whether company-issued or personal, have varying levels of security. So if one of those devices goes missing or is pilfered, there could be an untold effect on your day-to-day operations.
Thus, every organization both large and small should consider some form of Mobile Device Management (MDM). There should be control over the data that is accessed, what devices can touch the network, and most importantly, an ability to shred the corporate data remotely in cases of loss or foul play. Otherwise your organization could possibly face an unthinkable disaster.
